Description

Tea made from the leaves was traditionally used against stress and bronchitis. Tea from the root was applied topically to treat hemorrhoids. The seeds were crushed for a tea given to relieve fevers and joint pain.

Chemical Compounds: The leaves contain Beta-Sitosterol and its D-Glucoside, an alkaloid, oxalic acid and amino acids. The presence of a saponin and quebrachitol is reported in the plant. The seed oil has erucic acid, oleic acid, eicosonic acid, octanoic acid, and n-hexadecanoic acid and rich in the tri-terpenoids.
